california part one: october 2016

We went to Newport Coast for fall break. The Andelins were there as well over the weekend and we met up for church and then again on Monday at the beach. This meeting house has a cool mural of Lehi's Dream. We took some photos of the kids outside before leaving:

I thought these photos were so cute of the kids. Liv was clearly skipping to the car:

We were able to get together with Brian (Rob's cousin) and Jen and their darling girls Sunday evening. We barbecued at the resort and then roasted s'mores:

Monday morning we hit the beach! Sue and the twins met up with us at the resort and we all took the shuttle to Crystal Cove together. Sue took this photo of us on the ride--can you tell that Rob and I adore this little dude?

I forgot to bring my phone (camera) with us on Monday so the next  shots were all taken by Sue.
Sweet boy with sandy toes:

Little Mermaid:

The sky was pretty awesome.

Cute cousins! Liv's seaweed "wig" is hilarious:

Post beach--hanging out at the resort:

We went back to the beach that Wednesday. I remembered by phone and took lots of photos. This really is our happy place:

These six make up my world...loved this view:

Truman LOVED when Rob would hold him while playing Frisbee. He was laughing like crazy:

Best buddies:

Goodbye, Pacific Ocean!

This last photo was as we were waiting for the shuttle back from the beach. After a long wait we realized that we misunderstood the departure times (usually every hour) and Rob ended up running back to the resort to drive our Suburban down to pick us up. He had quite an adventure and scaled a wall (climbed a steel fence with spikes on top of it) and cut across a golf course... I couldn't believe how quickly he got back to us. Our hero :)

hewitt turns twelve!

Hewitt turned twelve on October 2nd. We got him a new suit (that he grew out of in about a month), and he went to the priesthood session of general conference and out to dinner with Rob and Burke the day before his birthday.

Such a handsome and awesome young man!

On his actual birthday we had his favorite for dinner (spaghetti) and a basketball cake for dessert:

Present time:

(I love how cute August looks as Hewitt read the card he made for him)

 Make a wish!

HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY, HEWITT! WE LOVE YOU!

september 2016

Here we are going back six months to September (2016)...I'm a little behind, you could say.

I got these cute shots of Truman "reading" the ads. This was the first time he was aware of me taking his photo and smiled for we when I asked him to! By the way, this first photo looks like my brother Todd to me.

Say "Cheese"

Truman and I went for a little stroll/wagon ride one evening. The sky was really cool (it was still so hot out)!

I love this little pouty, serious face.

Truman loves going for bike rides around the neighborhood. The problem was, I couldn't get him to keep a hat or sunglasses on and it's so sunny here. I finally figured out that he would keep these tinted goggles on!

More funny goggles pics:

Finally wearing a hat for some shade here. He seems so grown up playing on the park equipment:

A blurry night photo of Burke and Hewitt shooting hoops--a favorite pastime:

Liv had an "at home" school project about the 13 Colonies. We decided on a pillow case out of leftover fabric I had. She enjoyed working the pedal on the sewing machine for the first time. I think it turned out pretty cute:

I discovered Truman sans diaper after his nap one day...with wet sheets. This has happened several times since September, unfortunately.  I actually put duct tape on the front of his diaper a couple of times recently and now he just takes his pants off, but will leave his diaper on, thankfully.  Silly boy.

I was stung by this tiny scorpion (photo taken after I killed him) on the right side of my finger here. He was hiding under this washcloth that was over the side of my bathtub. Even though you can't see a mark or anything, it hurt like the dickens!!! I washed my hand with soap and water, got ice on it, and then elevated it right away. I had to keep ice on it non-stop that entire day/evening or I would have ridiculous pain shoot through my finger. I felt some numbness almost up to my shoulder for a day, and my finger felt numb to the touch for about a month. I pray that none of my kids will ever get stung!

Truman was 18 months on September 20th:
