december 2015

Truman became a pro at standing up in December. He sure is awfully cute:

Liv wrote this (poem?) about love in a notebook one day and I just had to capture it:

Truman LOVES the piano. This photo is so precious. It seems to me that Truman was thinking, "What is this magic box and how is that music getting out?"

The night I took these photos I wrote the following: "I can't stop thinking of how much joy this little baby brings into our home! The thought of having kids far apart in age (13 year spread) initially seemed really stressful, but I love how much my children are discovering because of each other! Futhermore, it's been a blessing for me to refocus on the things that matter most. I love being a mom."

Learning to sit on this little scooter:

Tosh was the Star of the Week at school and updated this red and black poster (that he made last year). I love all the comments/captions he wrote describing himself and his favorite things:

This is my favorite part:

You have a little something on your face, Tru!

Truman got sick in December and just wanted to snuggle/sleep on me one day. I will miss having a baby.

Little singer/songwriter:

Tru started flipping onto his stomach to sleep. Cute rosy cheeks:

Hewitt recreated his favorite toy for a "Trash for Toys" gift exchange using a wire hanger, cardboard, duct tape, and two old wreath hangers. Hewitt's old mini-hoop had broken and I could tell he was a little bummed to be giving this up. Little did he know he was about to get a new mini-hoop for Christmas.

Truman discovered opening cupboards and now does it all the time. He loves pulling things out as well. Our kitchen floor is usually covered in plastic cups, bowls, and containers.

On the last day of school before Christmas break, Liv got off the bus crying! I was so worried that something bad had happened on the bus. When I asked her about it, she expressed how much she was going to miss her teacher and friends in her class! (It was the sweetest thing.) Tosh and I reminded her that break was only a couple of weeks and she would be with them all again in January. Tosh suggested that she could have a play date and she cried, "With every single person in my class?!" Her teacher had given her this photo and I think she started crying on the bus while looking at it. She is so sweet (and so different from our boys!). As soon as she got home, she made this sign and hung these things on the outside of her bedroom door:

We met Aunt Sue and the twins at the park one day during the break. Truman loved swinging!

Truman turned NINE months!

Nine for Nine:
1. Clapping, and thinks it's hilarious to play "Clap the Spoon" and make a huge mess while I'm feeding him.
2. Cruising all over the place.
3. Opens drawers and cabinets.
4. Afraid of balloons but likes balls.
5. Getting three top teeth.
6. Enjoys reading board books and turns the page (with his left hand!).
7. Eating bits of bread, cheese, banana, and loves drinking sips of water out of a normal cup.
8. Loves blowing raspberries and 'humming' --finding his voice!
9. He's a blessing that I didn't know I needed.
We were able to go Christmas caroling a couple of different times as a family to some neighbors and friends during December. The boys all did an awesome job at their December piano recital and all of them even played their memorized piano pieces for our neighbors, the Finders, when we went caroling to their home. I love December and the warmth and closeness shared.

Playing with the little Nativity Set:

Truman has the cutest curls in the back of his hair!

Christmas Morning!!! We ate fluffy oven pancakes with buttermilk syrup, sausage, and orange juice. The kids lined up all ready to see their gifts and stockings:

Love Liv's face here:

Once again, the kids drew sibling names and were so excited to give gifts to each other. Burke gave Liv some doll clothes, fake nails, and candy:

Liv gave Hewitt a basketball:

Tosh gave Burke a ton of ice cream and soda to make floats!

Hewitt got Tosh a new nunchuk for the wii:

We hosted dinner on Christmas Day and were happy to have the Andelins and the Lybberts join us for turkey dinner, and to act out the nativity and sing carols. Here are a few photos that Sue took during the production:

Truman loves watching the washer and dryer. The laundry room is one of his favorite hang outs:

We had invited Brother Richardson (a single dad that Rob home teaches) to join us for Christmas dinner, but something came up and he couldn't make it so he brought by this gingerbread train set for the kids. Liv was so excited to put it together with Aunt Sue and her cousins.

The next day after church, Liv climbed up  and was sitting on the (very) tall bar to finish decorating the train and she fell backwards onto the floor, hitting her head. It was very scary for everyone! She got really tired right away and wanted to go to sleep. I think some angels (grandparents) may have cushioned her fall. We called doctor Rob right away, and thankfully she was just fine after a little nap on the ice pack and snuggle with her dad.
Sure love our kiddos! That night some of our family started to arrive for our big Peterson Reunion. Stay tuned...
