truman's baby blessing (and month two)

At Truman's one month appointment he weighed 10 lbs. 11 oz. and was 95% for height--definitely our biggest baby. 

At six weeks old, he started doing 5 hour stretches at night. These next photos are some of my very favorites. He is the sweetest baby boy.

We were so happy to have Grandma home from her mission and here to visit for Truman's baby blessing! Liv was really excited to come home from school early one day and have Grandma all to herself (Rob had joined her class on a field trip to the zoo and she went home with him).

Truman was blessed on May 3rd. The outfit (white footed one-piece) I had purchased before he was born was way too small for him (!) so we went with Plan B. The little bowtie was a nice touch (I sewed it onto an elastic band so it wouldn't be tight around his neck.) Doesn't he look dapper? 

 Side note: I'm so lucky that Rob is the father of my children!!! Tru's blessing was beautiful and inspired. I'm sure our parents were all present.

 

Family of SEVEN!!!

It was so special to have Grandma AND Aunt Alisa here visiting. We sure love our family! (Liv's arm around August is so cute. And Sue, Rob, and I make perfect stair steps here. Lol!).  

I snapped this photo right after the baby blessing--I'm such a rebel taking a photo during the meeting (ha!). He was just looking too cute (and sleepy). This may be the one and only photo I have of him using a pacifier. He stopped taking one around this time and never really cared for it anyway.

Two months old and starting to give lots of smiles!

Oh goodness, it is so fun to look back on these newborn photos! Those first weeks are always a challenge with very little sleep and trying to get nursing down, yet there is nothing sweeter than newborn snuggles. Truman had a very loud cry from the first night in the hospital and he was a bit fussy his first couple of weeks. I must admit I was a little worried, but he's turned out to be a very mellow and sweet baby. We love this little guy so very much! 

 Hewitt is such a fantastic big brother. He is so good with Tru and continues to be HUGE help!

  
Intel introduced a new benefit called "bonding leave" at the perfect time! Rob was able to be home for Truman's first SIX WEEKS! It was a lifesaver as I could mostly focus on Baby and getting rest and Rob took over making school lunches and getting the kids to and from school and their activities. It was an amazing blessing and we felt so fortunate. Rob also managed to paint our family room and kitchen (it took a LONG time to cover up that dark mustard yellow and red) and we admittedly spend a lot of time just snuggling the baby and watching Netflix together. First little photo shoot (with Mommy). Truman loves his hands and had them up at his mouth in every single ultrasound I had (and I had a lot!). I would swaddle him with his hands out (unless I was nursing) as he loved sucking on his (big!) hands:

Easter was on April 5th this year--the day before my mom's (74th) birthday. The combination of missing my mom, exhaustion, and postpartum hormones made for lots of tears. It's been really strange to have a baby and not have my parents here. I just know my mom (especially) would love holding this little guy and spending time with ALL my kids. I miss her more than words can say. I  got mastitis with a really bad fever and shakes the evening of the 6th. Even though I was feeling pretty cruddy I still managed to get these darling photos that afternoon:

 This photo captures Truman's cute widow's peak and shows how strong he is. He started holding his head up really well before one month.

One Month Old! 

Aunt Julie and Cousin Anna sent us this adorable quilt! It is darling and made us feel so loved.
